Elon Musk’s feud with Trump sparks the birth of a bold new political party. 

When billionaires break up, the fallout isn’t just messy — it might just birth a whole new political party.

On July 5, 2025, Elon Musk, the Richest Man on the Earth, announced formation of a political party, by the name of “America Party” in the US. He has done so in order to provide real choice to the people of the United States of America, as the existing duopoly of Republican and Democratic party has not been able to provide “real” alternatives to the people. He, himself, has claimed that the existing political climate of the US is based on the “uniparty” system.

America Party, that follows the ideology of “fiscal conservatism” came into existence after the feud between Elon Musk and Donald Trump (45th and 47th President of the United States of America). Musk had previously endorsed Trump for the 2024 Presidential Elections and had been seen hanging out with him (in the capacity of “Presidential Advisor” ofc), alongside been given a new department — Department of Government Efficiency. It appeared to the people around the world, that this is a happy friendship blooming for driving economic growth in the US, but sadly, that didn’t happen. The Independent, a British Online Newspaper, even noted that — it is one of the biggest bromances in the history of the world.

The reason for the break up is being claimed to be the — One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Fancy and cute name, is it? IS IT? It is a budget reconcialiation law passed by the 119th United States Congress. It was signed in to become a law by Trump on July 4, 2025. It particularly focuses on reallocating the budget of the US in multiple ways, all of which have been deemed to be controversial. You may think it is the elimination of personal exemption in taxes but yeah, the thing didn’t stop there. It also includes raising the debt ceiling to $5 trillion dollars. Musk was opposed to the ideas and felt that the current party politics in the US is not able to deliver “real” choice. Hence, on June 5, 2025 when Trump publicly criticized Musk, in front of Friedrich Merz, a German Chancellor, the billionaire took it to X (formerly Twitter), asking the people to vote — yes or no — to the question — should there be a political party to represent 80% in the middle? 80.4% people voted “yes” and now we have the child of an ugly break up — America Party.

But trust me, that is not all.

Despite being the founder of the America Party, Elon Musk cannot run for the Presidential Election as a he is a native-born South African (yea, Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the American Constitution, which highlights the qualifying criteria for the US presidency, states that — No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President).

Hence, there is no clarity on the “Official” / “Real” choice of Presidential Candidate announced by the party. I feel there might be questions in your mind about the impulsivity of forming a political party, just because your best friend doesn’t like you anymore, is bad, wait till you read this… Federal Election Commission, that oversees the Federal Elections all over the United States, has stated that the America Party has not registered with them. The White House of the United States has also chosen to remain silent on this matter.

Even at the earliest, the America Party will be able to participate in the 2028 Presidential Elections, if the citizens of the United States, continue to feel the dissatisfaction with the economic policies and lack of real choice in the “uniparty” system. But still, its is a very big IF.

Elon Musk is known for his impulsive moves (we all know how Twitter became X, and we all saw the profile of Donald Trump unbanned), but forming a political party in the “greatest” country of the world is a little too over the line. Whenever break ups happen, both the partners are known to throw dirt and still the global citizens are reacting for a proper reaction from Trump. But for the child-like instances, he has said that — “I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely “off the rails,” essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks”.
